Course Description:

“Powering the Future: A Beginner’s Guide to Renewable Energy and Battery Storage” is a two-hour crash course designed to provide energy professionals with an introduction to renewable energy and battery storage technology. The course covers the basics of renewable energy sources, including solar, wind, and hydro, and their environmental impact, as well as the role of battery storage technology in renewable energy systems. In particular, the battery storage portion of the course explores the various types of battery storage technologies and their applications in renewable energy systems. Attendees will gain an understanding of how battery storage can help solve intermittency issues in renewable energy systems and learn about the different factors that can impact battery storage performance and efficiency. By the end of the class, energy professionals will have a broad understanding of both renewable energy and battery storage technology as well as their potential to revolutionize the way we store and use energy.

After taking this course, you will be able to:

  • Discuss an overview of the basic principles and concepts of renewable energy and battery storage technologies.
  • Explain the environmental impact of traditional energy sources and how renewable energy can help reduce it.
  • Describe the main types of renewable energy sources, and their advantages and limitations.
  • Recognize the basic principles of battery storage technology and its role in renewable energy systems.
  • Illustrate the integration of renewable energy and battery storage systems in the energy grid and its benefits.
  • Discuss the current state of renewable energy and battery storage technology and its potential for future development.
  • Recognize practical examples of renewable energy and battery storage projects, and their benefits for individuals, communities, and the environment.
  • Engage in critical thinking and discussion about the challenges and opportunities in the transition to renewable energy and battery storage systems.
