Welcome to the AESP Canada! 

The launch of AESP Canada marks an exciting milestone in the evolution of the AESP community and the growing role that Canadian energy professionals play in shaping Canada’s energy future. Whether you work in energy efficiency, demand management, electrification, customer engagement, distributed energy resources, flexibility, regulatory policy, technology, or program delivery, AESP Canada exists to connect, support, and elevate professionals across our country and industry. 

AESP Canada was created with a simple but important purpose: to provide a platform for learning, networking, collaboration, and professional development tailored to the unique opportunities and challenges facing the Canadian energy sector.

Canada’s energy landscape is evolving rapidly. 

Across the country, utilities, governments, regulators, technology providers, consultants, and service organizations are working to address some of the most important energy challenges of our time. From affordability and reliability to decarbonization, electrification, flexibility, and customer engagement, Canadian energy professionals have a tremendous opportunity to lead. 

AESP Canada provides a forum for Canadian professionals to share ideas, showcase innovation, and learn from one another across jurisdictions. By bringing together professionals from coast to coast to coast, we can strengthen industry connections, create new opportunities for collaboration, and advance the knowledge and skills that will help our organizations and communities succeed. 

For AESP Canada members, this means greater access to Canadian-focused content, networking opportunities that span provincial boundaries, leadership opportunities within the organization, and a builds a stronger Canadian voice within the AESP community. 

As we celebrate this new milestone, it is important to recognize that AESP Canada would not exist without the leadership, dedication, and success of the AESP Ontario Chapter. 

For many years, the Ontario Chapter has been the driving force behind AESP’s presence in Canada, creating opportunities for members to connect, learn, and build lasting professional relationships. Through conferences, networking events, educational programming, and volunteer leadership, the Ontario Chapter has helped cultivate a vibrant Canadian energy services community. 

That work continues. 

The Ontario Chapter remains an essential part of the AESP community and will continue serving members in Ontario while also helping support the growth of a Canada-wide organization. AESP Canada is not replacing the Ontario Chapter. Rather, we are building upon its legacy and creating additional opportunities for members across Canada. 

Using the successful Ontario Chapter as a model, we hope to see additional provincial and regional chapters emerge across Canada, creating local opportunities for engagement while remaining connected through a strong national framework. 

Every region has unique perspectives, priorities, and energy challenges. By supporting the development of future chapters, we can create more opportunities for members to engage locally while benefiting from the strength and scale of a Canada-wide network. 

This vision will be built by volunteers, leaders, and members who are passionate about advancing our industry and fostering professional connections. We invite you to be part of that journey.

With the launch of AESP Canada, members may wonder how AESP Canada, the Ontario Chapter, and AESP Global fit together. 

The answer is that each plays a distinct but complementary role. 

AESP Global serves as the international professional association, providing industry-leading education, certifications, events, research, and member resources. 

AESP Canada is an affiliate arm of AESP, providing leadership and coordination for Canadian members, and offers opportunities for cross-country engagement, collaboration, and programming that reflects priorities specific to Canada. 

The Ontario Chapter continues to deliver regional programming, networking, and volunteer opportunities for members in Ontario while serving as an important partner within the AESP Canada community. 

Together, AESP Global, AESP Canada, and the Ontario Chapter will create a stronger and more connected member experience, combining local engagement, national collaboration, and international expertise.

One of the best ways to experience the value of AESP is by participating in our events. 

We are looking forward to our upcoming Canada Members Meeting on September 1 in Montréal, QC, where members from across the country will have an opportunity to connect, learn what’s ahead for AESP Canada, and explore new ways to get involved. 

We’re also excited about Flex Connect September 1-3 in Montréal, QC, bringing together industry leaders and practitioners to discuss one of the most dynamic areas of our sector: energy flexibility. As utilities and energy providers navigate an increasingly complex grid environment, conversations about flexibility, customer participation, and innovation have never been more important. 

For professionals looking to deepen their expertise, I encourage you to explore AESP’s educational offerings. AESP offers specialized training opportunities that help build the skills needed to lead in a rapidly evolving energy landscape, such as a Certificate of Excellence in Demand-Side Management (DSM) Program Management, an in-person session being held in Toronto, ON this October.

AESP has always been about people. 

The relationships we build, the knowledge we share, and the collective impact we create are what make this community so valuable. As Chair of AESP Canada, I am excited about what lies ahead and grateful to the many volunteers, leaders, and members who have helped make this next chapter possible.
