Description:
Presenters will discuss the U.S. Department of Energy’s involvement in the following aspects of Solid State Lighting: Product testing; development of the ENERGY STAR specification for near-term applications; where to find more information about SSL products; and strategies for communicating about solid state lighting.
Speakers: Jeff McCullough, Pacific Northwest National Lab Jeff McCullough, LC, CEM, CLEP, is a Senior Research Engineer with the U.S. Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory located in Richland, WA. His main area of focus is commercializing energy efficient technologies, particularly lighting and HVAC systems. Most recently Mr. McCullough has led development of technical performance criteria for Solid State Lighting, in support of DOE’s Lighting R&D program and the ENERGY STAR® program. Mr. McCullough holds a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering and a B.A. degree in Business Administration from Washington State University.
Karen Marchese, Akoya As a senior writer/account manager at Akoya, Karen Marchese provides strategic communications support for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Solid-State Lighting Program. Ms. Marchese joined Akoya in 1989, and has worked with DOE for over a decade, supporting the Solid-State Lighting Program since 2003 to implement a diverse set of communications, education, and outreach strategies.
Derek Greenauer, D&R International For the last three years, Derek Greenauer has been supporting the Federal Government’s ENERGY STAR® program in a variety of capacities. Today, Mr. Greenauer leads D&R’s efforts to conduct outreach to manufacturers, retailers, and promoters of energy efficient lighting on behalf of the US Department of Energy. In this capacity, Mr. Greenauer brings various ENERGY STAR stakeholders together to promote the use of ENERGY STAR qualified compact fluorescent light bulbs and soon, solid state luminaires such as LEDs. Before coming to D&R, Mr. Greenauer was the Northeast Regional Sales Manager for Ford’s line of Alternative Fueled Vehicles, was a political appointee of New Hampshire Governor Jeanne Shaheen in the New Hampshire Governor’s Energy Office, and managed a non-profit organization.

The Brown Bag call will last approximately 90 minutes (1½ hours) depending on how many questions there are from the participants. There will be a limited number of call participants, so register soon. Registration Fees:
$100 AESP Member Registration Fee for 1 or more listeners sharing a single phone connection who are all AESP individual members.
$295 Non-Member Registration Fee for 1 or more listeners sharing a single phone connection when 1 or more of them are not AESP individual members. This price includes a 12-month individual membership in AESP for one of the non-member listeners.
